Integrating industry developed courseware in IT scripting courses

The alignment of higher education with the skill needs employers and industry at large is a topic active debate, particularly for engineering education. Formal informal content developed by companies, technology-specific associations, consulting firms, individuals forms body knowledge that might fast-track careers toward very specific opportunities. By contrast, academic courseware known its pedagogical rigor while being slow to adapt fast-paced changes in technology, information technologies, reliance on expensive course materials burden students. This paper explores drivers integrating industry-developed an existing, higher-ed Scripting Information Technology Department Systems East Carolina University implications such integration.
