چکیده

The alignment of higher education with the skill needs employers and industry at large is a topic active debate, particularly for engineering education. Formal informal content developed by companies, technology-specific associations, consulting firms, individuals forms body knowledge that might fast-track careers toward very specific opportunities. By contrast, academic courseware known its pedagogical rigor while being slow to adapt fast-paced changes in technology, information technologies, reliance on expensive course materials burden students. This paper explores drivers integrating industry-developed an existing, higher-ed Scripting Information Technology Department Systems East Carolina University implications such integration. We hypothesize streamlined, cost-effective way provide students they need workforce. Students were exposed two types their scholarly performance was analyzed. Student perception assessed through postclass survey. student results feedback provided suggest hybrid approach more suitable address learning preferences predispositions case study concludes textbook industry-generated can be integrated into existing courses improving them terms outcomes industry's hiring expectations.

INTEGRATING MOOCs IN BLENDED COURSES

Recent studies appreciate that "MOOCs bring an impetus of reform, research and innovation to the Academy" [9]. Even though MOOCs are usually developed and delivered as independent online courses, experiments to wrap formal university courses around existing MOOCs are reported by teachers and researchers in different articles [3], [4], [8], [17]. This paper describes a new approach, in which the...

Integrating Independently Developed Classes

We address the problem of integrating classes that are developed independently. We propose to factorise the intensional and extensional dimensions of classes and let them be organised in separate hierarchies. Class integration becomes the problem of integrating extent graphs, and to describe relations between the properties of the classes to be integrated. Our approach may be seen as extending ...
